The Chesapeake Conservancy works to advance numerous conservation programs, access initiatives and stewardship activities:
- Support the Capt. John Smith Chesapeake Trail
Working in partnership with the National Park Service, the Chesapeake Conservancy seeks to expand access, facilitate tourism, and promote the responsible use of the Capt. John Smith Chesapeake Trail.
- Enhance Chesapeake Gateways and Watertrails
The Conservancy also works to enhance the Chesapeake Bay Gateways and Watertrails Network through capacity-building, public outreach and advocacy while also helping the public access and enjoy the natural, cultural and recreational resources of the Chesapeake and its rivers.
- Advance the Treasured Landscape Initiative
In partnership with public and private interests, the Chesapeake Conservancy is working to develop and implement a Chesapeake Bay Treasured Landscape Initiative, specifically urging leadership of the Senate and House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior to create a Chesapeake Bay Treasured Landscape Fund to conserve lands of ecological, cultural and historic significance.
- Help the Public Join the Adventure
The Conservancy also strives to educate the public on ways to explore and enjoy the Chesapeake, its lands and its rivers while also fostering partnerships and actions to advance policies and devote resources that expand conservation and promote public access.
