Sylvia Kniss is a senior earth and environmental sciences major from Kempton, Pennsylvania. She has minors in chemistry and honors and will be graduating in December of 2025. On campus, she is involved in Stadium Band, interns at the Freshwater Research Institute (FRI) and is a teaching assistant in the Organic Chemistry lab. Sylvia has been interning with the Conservancy since the spring of her freshman year and has been able to work on a variety of projects with the team.

Outside of college, Sylvia enjoys photography, painting and cross stitch. Previously, she has done research on stream ecology with Susquehanna’s FRI Stream Team, on McIntyre Wild Area’s abandoned coal mining operation and on legacy islands in the Susquehanna River.
