Community Partners
The Chesapeake Conservancy (formerly the Friends of the John Smith Chesapeake Trail) gained the strength needed to create the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail from its coaltion of community partners. More than 180 groups have supported this effort. They are groups of all kinds: state and local government agencies, businesses and business groups, tourist associations, and non-profit groups.

We are still developing the trail and helping communities plan for their future and conserve the places that make their place special. Join our coaltion of organizations. Help expand the John Smith Chesapeake Trail. Conserve the Chesapeake’s treasured landscapes and increase public access to the bay. Encourage heritage tourism in the Chesapeake region. We will keep you informed and engaged.
