Brenden Powers

Interpretive Outreach Assistant

Brenden is a student at George Mason University studying parks and recreation management and has been researching the impacts of race and education on the likelihood of participating in a local park, river, or neighborhood cleanup. Growing up in Northern Virginia, he enjoys activities such as hiking, kayaking, slacklining, and generally exploring the beauties of the DMV area, like the Chesapeake Bay.

Brenden‘s drive stems from his deep commitment to environmental justice, community engagement in parks, and conservation. This fuels his active efforts in highlighting the significance of volunteer initiatives, fostering environmental responsibility among local residents, advocating for equitable representation and access to parks, and stressing the importance of preserving natural spaces for future generations. He is beyond delighted to be able to further engage communities with the fascination nature has to offer!
