Director of the Conservation Innovation Center

Emily Beach is the director of the Chesapeake Conservancy’s Conservation Innovation Center, where she leads a dynamic team of professionals utilizing cutting-edge methods and applications to drive conservation using data-driven decision-making. Throughout her career, environmental ethics have provided the base from which she balances leading strategic initiatives, impactful partnerships and collaborative efforts.

Beach has spent the past two decades at the director level for nonprofit organizations such as USA Archery, the American Sportfishing Association and the Archery Trade Association. Her focus included long-term, strategic and tactical planning, grant acquisition, project development, team building, marketing and building partnerships dedicated, in part, to equality and diversity. At the CIC, these skills dovetail with the CIC’s innovation and use of emerging technologies to provide both broad-reaching and precision conservation for the nation’s largest estuary.

Beach lives in Silver Spring, Md., with her husband and two children and enjoys birding, hiking and exploring the Chesapeake Bay and other wild places.
