Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Programs

Programs in Annapolis & Anne Arundel County, MD
Chesapeake Conservancy’s headquarters are based in Annapolis, Maryland, located in Anne Arundel County. We are proud to be involved in several signature projects in Annapolis and here in our home county.
Anne Arundel Tree Canopy Analysis
The Chesapeake Conservancy’s Conservation Innovation Center (CIC) helped generate and apply new data for Anne Arundel County, Md., that revealed that the county was losing trees faster than almost any other county in the state. This data helped inform a recent change in Anne Arundel County law, that is inspiring other counties to act.
Partnerships at Sandy Point State Park
Expanding Quiet Waters Park
In 2019, Chesapeake Conservancy worked with a public-private partnership to help Anne Arundel County expand Quiet Waters Park. Instead of a 19-acre property covered with new luxury homes looming over the park, residents and military families stationed here will now have expanded recreation and open space opportunities at the park. This will also protect natural habitat for osprey, box turtles, and foxes that live here in one of the last mostly undeveloped sections of South River shoreline. Water Quality Monitoring
The Arundel Rivers Federation launched a new online water quality map built in partnership with the Chesapeake Conservancy to help visualize data from water quality samples. The tool helps answer:
- Is it safe to swim?
- Can fish breathe?
- How dirty is the water?
